The 36th HKIFF announced this year’s winning films for the SIGNIS Awards, FIPRESCI Prize, and the Firebird Awards for Short Film Competition, Documentary Competition and Young Cinema Competition.

Due to the recent breakdown of the sound system in HK City Hall Theatre, there have been some intermittent and unwanted noise from the loudspeaker during some of the HKIFF screenings on 4 & 5 April. HKIFF and the venue management are now investigating the case.

The 36th HKIFF Presents – Gala Premiere 10+10

The HKIFFS proudly launches Gala Premieres at Hong Kong Cultural Centre at the 36th HKIFF: 10+10, directed by 20 renowned filmmakers, including, Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Sylvia Chang, and starring Shu Qi, Mei Fang, Joseph Chang, etc.. The directors of the film attended the respective Gala Premiere.


The 27 March screening was flawed due to technical problems. Ticket holders for this screening may attend the second screening at HK Arts Centre at 5 April 2:30PM and apply for refund with the ticket stub.
