Airport Transportation

A variety of transportation options are available for people traveling between Hong Kong International Airport and Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories and Lantau Island: train, bus, ferry and taxi services.

1. Airport Express

The Airport Express Line, operated by MTR, provides a swift link between Hong Kong International Airport and the heart of Hong Kong. It is one of the few dedicated airport railways in the world, covering the 35.3km journey between the Hong Kong International Airport and Central in just 24 minutes. Each of the Airport Express stations has been designed to the highest standards, offering passengers world-class airport style facilities, such as in-town check-in, Airport Express Shuttle Bus services and many other value-added facilities.

Fare and timetable

The one-way adult fare from Airport Station to Hong Kong Station is HK$100, HK$90 to Kowloon Station and $60 to Tsing Yi Station. The return journey within the same day is free for Octopus Card and Same Day Return ticket holders (except journey between Airport and AsiaWorld-Expo stations). Trains run every 12 minutes from 5:50am to 1:15am daily.

The Airport Express Shuttle-bus

The Airport Express Shuttle-bus is provided complimentarily and exclusively for Airport Express passengers travelling between Hong Kong or Kowloon station, major hotels and railway interchanges.

Before getting on the shuttle-bus, proof of eligibility including Airport Express train ticket (Single Journey, Same Day Return, Round Trip, Airport Express Travel Pass), Airline ticket or boarding pass are required.

The complimentary Airport Express shuttle-bus travelling to and from Hong Kong Station, Kowloon Station and major hotels, including our official Hotel Regal Kowloon Hotel, which runs every 12 minutes from 06:12am to 23:12pm daily.

Airport Express Travel Pass – 3-day Hong Kong Transport Pass

Widely accepted by all major transportation services in Hong Kong, the 3-day Airport Express Travel Pass will be your ideal choice. The HK$220-card entitles passenger to one Airport Express single journeys and 3-day unlimited Mass Transit Railway (MTR) rides (except additional travel on Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations) and the HK$300-card entitles passenger to two Airport Express single journey and 3-day unlimited Mass Transit Railway (MTR) rides (except additional travel on Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations). Passengers can also enjoy the free Airport Express Shuttle Bus service when they take the Airport Express train. The card can be kept as souvenir or can be returned for a refund on remaining usable value plus a HK$50 deposit.

2. Buses

There are more than 30 franchised bus routes from the airport, including eleven Airbus services that have fewer stops than conventional buses. Airbus fares range between HK$15 and HK$45.

3. Taxis

Taxis to almost anywhere in Hong Kong are readily available from the taxi pick-up area. A typical journey from the airport to Central costs about $290; and about HK$230 to Tsim Sha Tsui (including the necessary bridge and tunnel fees).
